With nearly four decades of experience as a Technocrat, Vijay Kulkarni has been there and done it all ! As a young Civil Engineer, he joined the PWD in Maharashtra. To his credit, some of the major bridges in Western Maharashtra stand as testimony to his skill and talent.
From government to private enterprise, he switched smoothly to ACC Ltd. where he immersed himself into design and development for two decades. From fly ash based grouts to High-Performance Concrete, his contribution is too vast to be enumerated. His expertise was tapped to undertake a quality audit of the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, India’s first concrete expressway.
But Vijay is more than just a ‘concrete geek’ ! He has authored several books, edited journals, revised standards and contributed concretely to the industry and its development in the country.
Vijay Kulkarni has been a Technical Adviser to the Ready Mixed Concrete Manufacturers Association (RMCMA), Quality Council of India (QCI) and Technical Committee Member of the European Ready Mixed Concrete Organisation (ERMCO).
Today, Vijay Kulkarni is a respected faculty at the Institute of Concrete Technology, UK. He has recently developed the ‘Concrete Technologist India’ Training and Certification Program jointly with National Ready Mixed Concrete Association, USA.
Vijay Kulkarni was recently conferred with the ‘Outstanding Concrete Technologist’ award by the Indian Concrete Insititute (ICI). This is another addition to his shelf of awards received in the past.
