Ready Mixed Concrete (RMC) technology originated in India in the early 1990’s. Ganesh Kaskar seized the moment and joined ACC in 1994 to lead the company’s first RMC project in Mumbai. This project involved the production of 200,000 cubic meters of concrete over two years.
A graduate in Civil Engineering (BTech) from the IIT Mumbai (1982), Ganesh earned a Masters (MTech) in Concrete Technology from the same prestigious institute in 1984. His Project Management Skills took him across the globe to Algiers, Jeddah and Iran. These were interspersed with projects in Mumbai.
This vast experience made Ganesh a natural choice as the first employee of RMC Readymix (India) Pvt. Ltd. This joint venture between the RMC Group plc, UK and Hathway Investments Pvt. Ltd (a Rajan Raheja Group Company) was a pioneer in the field. From Sr. General Manager (Operations) in 1996 to Executive Director and CEO in 2004, he helmed the organisation and the fledgling industry. He was appointed to the Board of Prism Cement Ltd. and went on to head the Tile Bath and Kitchen (TBK) Division of H&R Johnson India as Executive Director.
It was during his tenure as President of the Readymix Concrete Manufacturers Association, that the Quality Scheme for RMC was developed and rolled out.
